Organized in response to an official request from the Government of Maldives, the Workshop intends to support building baseline capacity of Maldives stakeholders for future implementation of paperless trade systems and Single Window through training on data harmonization. Data Harmonization is a necessary step toward trade automation and introduction of electronic Single Window facilities.

United Nations ESCAP is organizing the Workshop on Enabling Cross-border Paperless Trade on 26 September 2014 in Bangkok, back-to-back with the Asia-Pacific Trade Facilitation Forum (APTFF) 2014. The Workshop will bring together regional experts, in particular experts from the United Nations Network of Experts for Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific (UNNExT), to discuss developing a draft roadmap for the implementation of substantive provisions specified in the in the draft text of a regional arrangement on facilitation of cross-border paperless trade.
The objective of the workshop is to assist countries in Asia and the Pacific to become better aware of how to design and implement trade facilitation measures on perishable goods and Single Window, in connection with the relevant provisions in the WTO TFA, through sharing of good practices and lessons learned from those countries who have already implemented, or made substantial progress in implementing relevant measures.
